There will DEFINITELY be cake.
So here's the thing about us and cake. We love cake. Cake is.... something we love. We are not looking for a gorgeous fondant cake with smooth lines and intricate details. Many people put looks above taste for their cake. Not us. We want it to taste good and, if possible, make it look good. Luckily, I like the charming look of casually finished cakes with buttercream icing. For now, our plan is to have a 3 tier cake with 3 different flavors. Red Velvet being one, the other flavors are pending cake-tastings. Buttercream or Cream Cheese (or mix) finish. The picture to the left is pretty much the exact cake I would love to have, but with my own flowers added. Cake topper, types of flowers, colors of flowers, amount of flowers.... those are decisions that have yet to be made.
I love the cake above, but with the greenery and flowers of the cake to the left. Only we would use flowers that are different shades of red.
Other Inspirations--
We also like the vertical lines on this frosting finish, and I would consider adding a ribbon or some sort of embellishment detail.
I think the casual falling of flowers (sugar or real) could also be quite a cute addition to our simple and yummy cake, if done carefully!
I just love the leaves and the greenery on this cake above. I would have way less greenery and some flowers, but I love the look of the leaves.
The meringue-finish on this cake is also quite charming!
I like the meringue-finish of this cake, but with buttercream white icing, and I really like the arrangement of the flowers.
Cake Toppers
I saw this idea and thought it was really cute. Josh and I don't really like the traditional bride/groom cake topper with the miniature bride/groom. This, however, is something I would definitely consider doing! Everyone loves a cupcake... and especially a personalized one! :)
